Storm Advice

We are being advised to be prepared for high winds, heavy rain and potential flooding as Storm Ciarán approaches the county this week.

There are currently Yellow warnings of both wind and rain affecting Wiltshire on both Wednesday and Thursday of this week, though this may change as the storm approaches, so please check the forecast.

Wiltshire Council highways teams will be on standby to deal with incidents such as flooding and fallen trees and will work through these on a priority basis as they occur. You should report any incidents of flooding or fallen trees via our MyWilts reporting system.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) have moved to a Yellow Alert status ahead of the storm and the potential it has to damage the electricity network.

Customers are encouraged to be prepared for the possibility of disruption to supplies by:

1. Saving the emergency power cut number – ‘105’ – to your phone to report any loss of supply or damage to the electricity network

2. Visiting SSEN’s Power Track Website to give you details of power cuts and restoration times. You can also report power cuts and network damage through the Power Track app
https://powertrack.ssen.co.uk/powertrack

3. Going to SSEN’s website where there is a wealth of advice and information on how to deal with a power cut, or to chat live to one of SSEN’s advisors via its Webchat service
https://www.ssen.co.uk/

Customers are also eligible for SSEN’s Priority Services Register (PSR) if they:
1. Are deaf or hard of hearing
2. Have a disability
3. Live with children under five
4. Are blind or partially sighted
5. Have a chronic illness

Census 2021

The census is taking place in March 2021.

It’s a survey that happens every 10 years and gives us a picture of all the people and households in England and Wales. It helps plan and fund public services, like transport, education and healthcare.

By taking part and encouraging others to do the same, you’ll help make sure you and your community get the services you need.

Nearer the time, you’ll receive more information. There’ll be plenty of help to take part for people who need it.
