Update on Mill Pond project

by Figheldean Webmaster at 12:32 25/07/08 (Mill Pond)
We've been given the formal go-ahead by the MoD to proceed with the restoration plan for the Mill Pond, and the application for the consent of the Environment Agency has been submitted by Living River on our behalf.

Dates for working parties of volunteers will be decided on shortly.

Please get in touch if you'd like to help - initially we'll be doing a litter pick and a nettle pluck (strimming them is a never-ending task, pulling them out by hand is far better).

The botany survey by Bulford Conservation Group found the following species in the immediate area and on the opposite bank, in addition to the ubiquitous nettles and brambles:

Meadow buttercup
White clover
Wild arum
Hogweed
Hemlock water dropwort
Water cress
Great willowherb
Snowberry
Herb robert
Comfrey
Cleavers
Herb bennett
White willow
Grey willow
Water crowfoot
Meadowsweet
Reed sweetgrass
Reed canarygrass
Common valerian
Giant fescue
Angelica
Common reed
Yellow flag iris
Wild privet
Hawthorn
Elder
Crested dogtail
