Operation Nightingale and Wessex Archaeology started to excavate the 4000-year-old Bronze Age Barrow Clump site last week (18th June 2012).

The multi-period site has evidence for earlier Neolithic occupation and later Anglo-Saxon burials. This scheduled site is of national importance.

Unfortunately the barrow is on the English Heritage ‘Heritage at Risk’ (HAR) list. It is in poor and declining condition threatened by continued and extensive burrowing by badgers.

English Heritage has recently advised full excavation of the site as it can no longer be preserved in situ.

It costs about £30 a day to keep our Church in operation. Sadly our accounts highlight the fact that we are running at a loss.

To maintain and keep our beautiful Church open we must address this.

Your Church/Your Day - Birthday? Anniversary? Christening? Or any significant day.

We invite you to sponsor your day by pledging £30 per annum.

There is an eight week consultation taking place by Wiltshire Police Authority about future plans of policing in Wiltshire, in line with the requirement to save up to £15 million over the next four years due to cuts in funding.

They are asking members of the public to read about these plans and to give their views via a short questionnaire, accessible via the homepage of the Wiltshire Police Authority website homepage: www.wiltshire-pa.gov.uk

Please see the website above for more info.
