Figheldean Mill Pond
Figheldean Mill Pond is first mentioned in the Domesday Book, and there was a mill here right up until the late 1950s when it was demolished.
In latter years it's become something of a neglected, nettle-filled, litter-strewn wilderness but thanks to permission from the Ministry of Defence Estates, the advice and outstanding help of the Living River Project and the enthusiasm of village volunteers we're starting to gradually improve the area.

The is preparatory work with the Living River Project and will include putting the stakes and bank restoration mesh in place.
Sparsholt College have kindly offered the services of half a dozen students to do the wet and heavy work, but anyone who would like to pop along and watch the progress will be most welcome (especially if they bring tea and biscuits!)
Starting around 10am.
Dates for working parties of volunteers will be decided on shortly.
They've done all that without fuss but more importantly without any real thanks, which is a shame. Without their efforts the area would be a terrible eyesore.
